Hello people, Iam new to tt racing. I will be starting this season a few TTs, now my Question,I am a bigger guy (200)lbs and like to ride my middle gears on flat roads. I have been told to turn about 90 rpms in lower gears which does not feel comfortable for general riding. Why then dont tt riders just turn lower gears very fast, and becuase i have a problem (turning becuase i cant do it for long) my high gears how can this be developed? THX

TT'rs cannot turn a fast cadence as comfortably as a crit rider because of their position and saddle height. Crit riders can sprint over 160+ because they can slide forward and shorten their effective saddle height, not so if you are already forward on a TT bike. 90 is a good round number, maybe more or less depending on the course and weather.
