OK, now my 2 cents ... Todd and SDBC have put on this event for us, every year since I can remember. My first time trial was at Fiesta Island in February 2002, and I have been racing there for the past five years. I personally am not going to request a refund, I understand how challenging it is for SDBC and Todd to put on this event only to be burdened with cancellation and lost revenue. I appreciate their support, and look forward to racing at Fiesta Island for years to come. - Gary

I agree! We can't afford to loose such a great venue! Keep up the great work Todd, your crew, and B&L.

I registered via Active.com and they have a No Refund Policy anyway. I am looking forward to the March 5th TT. See ya there.

Copy that Gary and Matt. I emailed Todd last week and offered to conduct a Time Trial clinic and give all the proceeds to ensure a softening of the financial blow the team took last week. Now, although I think SDBC is doing well financially (I could be wrong), like you, I don't want to see this Fiesta Island jeopardized.
Either way, I suggested the following:
Time Trial Clinic
Time/Date: TBD
Location: TBD, except Fiesta Island would be a no brainer, unless we have to pay for access and get license, etc.
Topics: depending on the make up of attendees, this can be as advanced as need be, but some general topics could include:
Training
Race strategy
Proper warm up
Equipment sub-sponsored by B&L
Measuring performance
Other tricks and tips
If we were to cover all of the above topics, this would be a full-day clinic and would, ideally, have a class room presentation and field practice.
I think if we charged $150/person and capped it at 15 participants, this ought to help cover your loss and pay for the clinic.
I hope Todd and crew take me up on this offer.

The no refund from Active is for the extra charge on top of your registration....the $2-$3 extra. SDBC will have to decide to refund the riders and probably cut checks or figure out a way to comp riders at the next race.

Hi all. So far 29 riders have responded to me concerning refunds for the 2/12 TT. Of the 29 riders who have responded, 11 riders have requested refunds. All refund checks have been mailed. There are still a lot of riders that I have not heard from yet. Riders have until 3/1 to request a refund.
I have received lots of very thoughtful emails from folks about the Fiesta Island TT in general, and specifically concerning what happened 2/12. Everyone should know that I have not lost momentum. Everything associated with the event is fine. Financially, we took a blow. It looks like your generosity will soften the financial hit.
A couple of you have stepped forward with extraordinary offers to help us out financially. It is incredible that you would offer to do this for us. I am very flattered. The riders that frequent the event appreciate what we do and they let us know. That means a lot. We will know where are financially in a couple of weeks. At that time we can talk about what might be appropriate. Your suggestions are great!
In the mean time, there is a TT next Sunday. Pre-registration closed last night. Same day registration is still available. I will see you all bright and early a week from Sunday, 3/5.
Have a great time.
Todd
