Hello again people, i would like to ask another question. As a novice i recently installed a aero bar on my road bike. And i bought a few videos on tt training and have been practicing on the trainer. As i will be riding some TTs this season,I would like to buy an real tt bike but dont have the $ now but how much differance does this make? ie how much time can you shave off with a decent purpose built bike? Hey TT guy
Well that’s a big question. I think you could save the most time with a good set of race wheel like Hed 3’s or Zipp 404’s something on that line.
As for TT frames I just got a new one that replaced may last frame witch was a road frame with all aero tubing. The biggest deference that I can see is most TT frames have a stepper seat tube angel witch lets you get in a lower more aero position, and a better transfer of power.
I think with your present set up, a road bike with clip on aero bars will get you along way, faster TT wheels will get you that much farther and a TT frame will refine your position and get your that last bit of speed.
Cervelo’s web sight has some good number on timesavings with wheels and aero frames so go take a look.
Get ready this TT stuff will get you! The next thing you know you’ll have race wheel an aero helmet, a skin suite and shoe covers.
As for me aero bars let me go about 1-2 mph faster, race wheels for me (tri spoke front, Renn disc rear) I would bet gets you 1 or 2 mph more. So if you’re going 20 mph you get 23 or 24 mph

Take a look at the Aerodynamics article in the training section, you can get an idea of the difference that aero equipment makes. It is quite significant.
