Does anyone know of a method other than safety pins for affixing a race number? My husband seems to recall some trick, but I've tried searching the web (including this site) and cannot find anything. Why go to all the trouble of having aerodynamic clothing, helmet, etc. just to have the race number flapping around?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If you are interested in the 3M spray, I have used the "Super77 multipurpose adhesive" for the past year and it works fine. It comes in a 16oz spray can and is available at Home Depot.
If you use too much and leave it on too long it will stay on the jersey like tubular glue on an old rim. However, I find it works better and you can use less in the future when this happens. Wear some thin, cloth gloves to apply it, otherwise you'll have it on your hands all day.

I also saw some "tape" online that was made specifically to put race numbers on. I never tried it and can't find the link right now.
Does anyone know what I'm talking about? It was literally like a roll of tape that you put on the underside of your number.
If you can find the link, I'll be guinea pig and test it out.

I have used both the tape and the glue. The tape didn't work for me as well as I would have hoped as a couple of the corners came off during the race. I have used, and still use to this day, the 3M adhesive spray. Yes it does stay on your jersey if you put it on too thick but with a little WD-40 it will come right off. I like it for 3 reasons.
1. It's easy to apply.
2. it much faster than pinning.
3. the race number stays flush to your body i.e. it's not flapping around in the wind as your going along
I started using it about a year ago and I liked it and now a bunch of my friends use it as well. It takes a bouple of times to get used to how much you need to spray on but it's no big deal as long as you don't mind spraying a little WD-40 on the jersey. Anyway good luck with whatever you try.
