OK so I got my first 38k TT done this week and now that I have a base time (1:05:23) I am looking to whack some serious time off it. I am in my first year of bike racing and second year of tris. Training has been gradually getting more formalized and I'm now putting in roughly 7hrs on the bike/week. This is up from 4-5 hrs. Now I'm looking to make good use of that time. I can't do motorpacing, are intervals key this time of year or longer TT type efforts in training (30min+)? I know Gary got a huge base but I can't put that kind of time in right now, I am maxed out for training. so shorter intervals or longer, or what?

great job! what i have learned is that you do intervals of about 2 miles flat out and then do about 10 min of recovery riding. Do about 4 on /off intervals and over some time the intervals will link together.Meaning you will be able to go flat out the whole tt at the top speed. Best wishes
