Hi, my name is Angela and I'm an elite triathlete going into the Time Trial event this year. I came across your site. I train in Santa Ynez, CA and I have a few questions!
1. Is there anyone in the area that goes to these event that I could car-pool with?
2. How long are the typical TT events here?
3. I am Canadian and hold a UCI license. Is this OK?
4. I'm not good with location, does anyone know the location names and rough distance from Santa Ynez?
5. Cost?
Thanks a million!

Welcome Angela,
I'll try to answer some things:
1. Is there anyone in the area that goes to these event that I could car-pool with?
?
2. How long are the typical TT events here?
Piru: 20K/12.4 miles Piru, CA
Tom's Farm: 8.5 miles Corona, CA
Santiago Canyon: 11 miles Mission Viejo, CA
Fiesta Island: 20K/12.4 miles San Diego, CA 92109
3. I am Canadian and hold a UCI license. Is this OK?
Guessing you would need a USCF annual license at Santiago and Tom's Farm as they are USCF races. Wait until 12/01/09 to buy one for the 2010 racing season: http://www.usacycling.org/road/
Fiesta and Piru you are good to go.
4. I'm not good with location, does anyone know the location names and rough distance from Santa Ynez?
Google the City, State zipcode from Santa Inez. You are about 2 hours from Piru and 5 hours from Fiesta Island. All else are in between those.
5. Cost?
Race entries are mostly around $25 to $30, very reasonable. Piru and Fiesta can be registered in advance on WWW.Active.com. Fiesta fills early, so, get to that as soon as it opens. The others are day-of register, usually around 0700.
Since you are coming from multisport I will add for Santiago and Tom's Farm you will need a jersey/suit with sleeves that cover the shoulders. Its a USCF thing
Hope this helps a bit,
Paul
