I understand it is very difficult to make everyone happy. The format of the proposed ITT series simply is not good. The previous program appeared to work for years. Different race promoters had different categories. It seemed easy to post the times and placing and plug them into the So. Cal ITT series as it applied. As it stands now the series lost me with the change. The promoters lost my entry fees because there was little motivation to mix it up when some of my results were dumped. If the proposed plan for categories stays as stated I will not race many ITT's. Why should I?
Let's say I have goals for the series. Should I race masters 30+ or the goofy 1,2,3,4? I'm old and a cat 2. Do I race against a 25 year old cat. 4 who is fast or a 25 year old cat. 1?? Do I race against a 31 year old cat. whatever?
What about the women??
Everyone can't be made happy but this proposal blows. It has little thought. The problem should be solved by the promoter reporting of results. I don't care what the promoter has for their categories on race day. I'll throw my leg over the bike and peddle it. It seems reasonable to compete against riders within your range of age and or experience/category level for any series competition.
How about a little more thought and consideration. If not, just shelf the entire So. Cal Series thing and run individual races.

If no longer relevant, maybe it is time to retire the series.
The Fiesta Island TT change prevents riders from racing down in age group category, and they are the only promoter to enforce this. As such, multiple masters categories cannot be used, or Fiesta Island results must be excluded.
Open to suggestions and ideas.

How about eliminating Fiesta Island from the series? That would leave 10 races. I was not aware that they are the ones who were not accommodating the racers. I don't see why someone can't race in a younger age category if they want. If the series dropped Fiesta Island maybe other promoters can add a race or 2. Maybe someone else can jump in with a race or 2. I know it is hard to promote any race but a 20K TT seems the easiest of all.
If you do not live in the San Diego area Fiesta Island is always a tough place to race. With the first rider off at 7 AM and rider limits due to the need to be off the island by 9 AM it makes for an very early morning and everything needs to go right just to get warmed up. I know the SD people have a long trip to do Piru but at least the first rider is off at 9 AM.

Fiesta TT course is unique in the series, since all the other courses have hills or rolling terrain.
There has to be a work around for the Fiesta situation. I'm still at a loss as to how Fiesta Island results have anything to do with Socal TT series results? We had the same issue at Piru, and they simply captured the data and sorted it accordingly.
When you say 'enforce'the rule, what do you mean? Do they refuse to hand over the time data? Is there a SCNCA or USAC fine or something? Some clarification would help.
Let the Fiesta promoters list results as they will, and tabulate the Socal Series results seperately. This is a ridiculous reason to throw out half the races in the series.
Who can we contact to appeal the fiesta island rule on age groups - is there a point of contact?

Follow this scenerio, which actually occured last year:
You are 39 years old and race the 30+ events in the fall of 2009 at Toms Farms, Fiesta Island, Santiago, Piru. In 2010 you are 40 years old. You cannot race Fiesta Island events in the 30-39 category, however you can still race 30+ at Toms Farms, Santiago, Piru. You can no longer effectively compete for the 30+ series due to the Fiesta Island restriction.
Currently the 2011 SoCal TT Series is on hold pending a solution that allows masters riders to "race down" in age group at Fiesta Island TT.

Obviously the easiest solution would be if Fiesta would allow the masters to race down a category, I'm not sure why that would be a big deal to them. A solution that I like better is to align the series with the regular road season, that is have the first event in January and the last in December, the only drawback is there will be no competition for a few months over the summer (but I suppose that could be changed). This will eliminate the subject issue and will make the series more appealing to the mainstream racers, and hopefully make things more competitive. Let's face it, the series is often won not by the fastest time trial racer but the one who shows up to the most races and places decently well in each. I think having the series is great but let's keep it in perspective
